I'm so glad you posted this! I've been reading about blending boards everywhere, but didn't want to spend $170 on one! At the DIY price, I think I will probably go for it now!

You can also order the carding cloth from Wingham Woolwork, in England. They estimate £22.80 as the cost of the cloth.

I made mine, following your instructions. I wish I had looked harder for a cutting board with a handle. I haven't stapled mine yet as I have no staples of the correct size, but I hope to get some next week. I have found that instead of the rolags, I much prefer dizzing the fiber off into long, soft roving!

Carding cloth and blending cloth are different. Blending cloth tines are slightly longer and more flexible than carding cloth. This would be an important difference if you were planning on using your board for art batts.
Fantastic tutorial though. Immensely inspiring. I've just ordered cloth through the rollin rolags group on ravelry.
Thank you for this post! I attended New York State Sheep & Wool last weekend and saw a blending board in action. After looking online and seeing the price of them, DH also suggested that I make my own. Your idea of using a bamboo cutting board is wonderful!
